Poaching crackdown - Mozambicans caught
2011-04-18 21:12
Johannesburg - Four men were arrested on suspicion of poaching
at the Kruger National Park on Monday, the ministry of defence
said.
The four Mozambican nationals were found with hunting rifles,
binoculars and an axe, said spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mabaya.
They were arrested by members of the SA National Defence Force
who had been deployed to the park, he said.
SANDF soldiers had been deployed on the park's borders with
Mozambique and Zimbabwe from the beginning of April.
"We have declared war with poachers in all our parks," said
Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu as she congratulated the SANDF
members on the arrests.
