SanWild Lion Alert
Dear Friends
All our attempts to secure funding to continue to care for 16
stunning lions have resulted in very little funding - not even
enough to bring our backlog of outstanding bills to our meat
supplier up to date.
To those of you who have donated; a huge thank you. You are the
stars in our world that can sometimes become pretty dark indeed.
For many years, since 2003 we have loved and cared for the lions
to the best of our ability and with the goodwill, financial help
and support of so many good people. Sadly somewhere, somehow
this goodwill seems to have vanished; or maybe the novelty of
supporting three prides of lions have simply worn off. Whatever
the reasons may or may not be; the reality is that SanWild can
no longer afford to look after the lions unless donor funding
is urgently secured.
On a personal level I wish I could turn promises of help into
real funding; if this was possible we would have no crisis on
our hands and funding would be streaming in. Sadly too many
people out there simply pay lip service to helping wild animals
in crisis and your empty promises only make things worse for the
animals and bring down the morale and motivation of our team to
find solutions. Unless you actually are going to help, please do
not give an undertaking you have no intention to or cannot keep.
The situation on the ground for our lions is dire and unless we
can urgently find sponsorship the lions will have to be put
down.
I beg of you to please urgently respond to this email and help
us once again to find enough funding to care for our lions; the
time is now! We simply cannot continue to run up bills while
having no money to pay them - the situation of constantly having
to beg to save the lives of a group of amazing animals is so
demoralising and there are times that all we can do is sit down
and cry. We cannot perform miracles without your financial
assistance and help. We HAVE on numerous occasions tried to find
other safe homes for our lions, but have failed as South Africa
remains a dangerous place for lions as a result of the canned
lion hunting industry.
The time is running out, please help the lions before it is too
late. We are simply the voices begging on their behalf for their
very lives.
Donations can also be made via direct internet banking transfer.
Please do remember that all donations made in South Africa, is
tax deductible - a great opportunity to especially companies to
do something for animal welfare and indirectly conservation. If
we have sufficient funding to care for the lions; other donor
funding can be allocated towards bio-diversity conservation and
the protection of other endangered species living in the SanWild
Wildlife Sanctuary. SanWild is so much more than just a
sanctuary for lions!
