Spending time with Bliksem
We drove to Tzaneen around 8.00 AM today. Before that we fed the
mongoose, Meerkats and Bushy. Tzaneen is around one hour drive
from camp. We did some grocery shopping and after finishing
Louise’s work returned around noon. After lunch I went back to
office and checked my emails and got playing with the 3rd
Meerkat mom. I also did some video shoot of another Meerkat
family and photo’s came out great. I was honored that Meerkats
let me be very close to them.
Around 4.00 PM we started to drive and locate elusive Thukela
Elephants. We drove for almost 1.5 hours and although we were
getting a strong signal could not actually see the elephants. We
also visited 100 years old Gold Mine Shafts which are on SanWild
property.
As promised, earlier I spent lot of time with Bliksem today. He
was close to me all the time and I did most of this opportunity.
He raised his head over and over so that I could kind of scratch
underside of his throat. This was amazing as I could see his
eyes close every time I was scratching as if to say, “Thanks
that feel so good continue doing it”. He is so awesome guy that
his picture is embedded in my memory forever. I understand that
he has to be free soon and may not let me close but I am fine
with it and excited that he is going to be free. As Louise
rightly said, if we are selfish and trap them in our emotions,
then we don’t let animals do what they are supposed to do, “Roam
Freely”. I would be utmost happy every time to see him roaming
free at SanWild and not worry if I don’t get to be physically
close with him. But emotionally he will always have a special
place in my heart.
Wish I had some divine powers that I could get physically close
to Bombie the lioness, Donga the lion and all other animals on
earth. I could use this power to let them know in their
language, Run away as hard as you can when you see a human
being. Don’t make the mistake of letting them close. They do not
deserve that trust, love and affection.
Castle Light and Bushy
I prepared early dinner and am having Castle Light the local
beer. Tomorrow after feeding the Meerkats, mongoose and Bushy, I
will be going for a bush walk with Albert. I am looking forward
to this one
