Already planning my next trip

Coming week will be my last week at SanWild. I fly back to the US on Tuesday Oct 30th. I have already started planning about my next trip sometime in June next year. By that I will be more educated and am sure not to repeat the mistakes, I may have unknowingly. Anyway I have always learnt thru mistakes and the one I was about to make was avoided at a good time, before things could go deadly, I feel.

One thing I am still looking forward to see is Black Mamba. I have always been fascinated by black mamba, probably the fastest land snake and one of the most deadly ones. Again, snakes are as afraid of humans as we are of them, so they don’t hang around for us at the corner. I have been at SanWild for 10 days now and have done numerous bush walks but have not seen any type snake for that matter. What does it tell us and what should we learn. Snakes are not vicious and nor they are stalking us. They are as elusive as they can be. It is an unfortunate rare occasion to get bitten by a snake, usually happens when someone tries to catch OR handle it. So repeating, don’t mess with WILD ANIMALS or REPTILES and blame them for our mistake.

Trust me I do have fear of all snakes but have tremendous amount of respect for them. I have seen cobras in India and some deadly ones on Discovery but never seen in wild. I am not sure if I am really prepared to come face to face with Black Mamba.
