A thriving refuge for wildlife in the South African bush...

Spanning 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) of South African savannah, SanWild Sanctuary is home to the Big Five plus a profusion of native wildlife. It’s a place you can relax at our luxury safari lodge, engage in a life-changing volunteer program, or support our Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

Founded by the late conservation champion Louise Joubert, SanWild Sanctuary has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing wild animals back into their natural habitats for more than 20 years.

Alongside our Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, the SanWild Lodge offers luxury tented safari accommodation with a family atmosphere. And with our SanWild Scout Ranger volunteer program, students and researchers of all ages can make a meaningful contribution to wildlife conservation.

Our Jack Russell terrier Phoebe thinks she owns the place. You can catch her posts on Instagram.

A 130-year-old, hand dug, gold mine tunnel. SanWild has a rich history with notable historic figures like President Paul Kruger spending time here in the late 1800s and early 1900s during the Boer Wars.

Legend has it that elephants go to die in mysterious graveyards, where their bones rest for eternity. Though unproven, the myth captivates imaginations worldwide. Have you heard of ours?
